Making music is not an easy task, I mean making a hit is very hard but making back-to-back hits is the most challenging thing artists face. Not every artist can cope with the heat that comes with making a trending hit.
Wadagliz are just the latest victims of this, after trending last year and making a ‘Anguka Nayo’ hit, Wadagliz are now struggling to make a second hit and stay on the mainstream table. They teamed up with the hottest Femcee, rcm Dyana Cods, on ‘Gala Gud’ but the reception wasn’t what they expected.
They have dropped projects but they are not just to that bar they set with Anguka Nayo. But not just Wadagliz we’ve seen artists who are one-hit wonders.
If you can remember an artist from Coast who hit the airwaves with ‘Kide Kide’ but his name has long been forgotten since, He’s called Dazlah Kiduche.
I don’t wanna talk about the Gengetone era because that was a wave that came with hits that were not timeless.
Do you guys also remember ‘Bank Otuch’? Ever since the remix dropped, I don’t think Vicmass Luodollar has been able to make another hit like that. Is it the industry that’s not fair? Maybe not.
A hit is the foundation of your success as an artist, it takes you to the mainstream table. One thing after making a hit go work with some Big act, invest heavily on your marketing make those connections.
Breeder LW is a very good example, after getting into the mainstream table, he went on to feature Khaligraph on ‘Ni Kubaya’ and that’s how he went on to cement his mainstream name.
I don’t know if you guys remember Rankaddah, the ‘Tingika ‘ hitmaker, that song was always playing on every radio station.
Imagine if he could have taken advantage of that and marketed his brand the right way. Been a minute since I heard of him btw.
But this should just be a lesson to the upcoming artists who are hungry to get the piece of cake from the mainstream table. Once you get that hit, don’t sit back and relax, that’s just the foundation.
And remember…
Hits will make you famous but marketing and Connections will make you Rich.
