In case you have been living under a rock, we would like to inform you that Kenya has a Best New Rapper named Toxic Lyrikali. Last year, we as Radio 254 awarded Breeder LW with the award of Best Rapper during our inaugural Radio TV 254 Awards 2024. Though the year 2025 is not yet over, we are certain that the best rapper in Kenya 2025 is none other than Toxic Lyrikali.
As of 27th March 2025, his song Chinje (https://youtu.be/3gpYhCNNxko) has over 4.2 million views on YouTube and continues to gain popularity on TikTok, Radio, and social media. In a recent interview on the Mic Cheque podcast, the best rapper in Africa Khaligraph Jones mentioned Toxic Lyrikali as being the rapper to watch from Kenya further reinforcing the belief we have that Toxic is up next.
Toxic Lyrikali is not new to the music industry and neither did he just come from nowhere. Prior to the success of Chinje, Toxic Lyrikali has worked with Ebola Mkuu, Badmanbright, Masta VK, Mauru Gwash amongst many others. According to YouTube, Toxic Lyrikali started his YouTube channel on 6th January 2022 and has since garnered over 11 million views on the platform over the three-year period he has been releasing music on YouTube.
Why is Toxic Lyrikali the best rapper in Kenya? Toxic is currently the best rapper in Kenya because he has managed to convince both Kenya’s rap audience as well as the masses that his music is different. What is unique about Toxic is that he sounds like nobody else and has managed to make it in rap without any big features or cosigns. His biggest songs don’t have any features but are just him rapping his heart out. Time will tell but if bets were being taken then we as Radio 254 would be willing to say that Toxic Lyrikali is up next and going to be the biggest thing in rap and Kenyan music since Wakadinali. Get to know him and his music now before it is too late. Toxic Lyrikali is going global, and he is doing it his way with his own sound.
