MANHUNT FOR KENYAN SEX TRAFFICKER

Detectives from the Anti-Human Trafficking Police Unit have launched a man hunt for a woman believed to be the mastermind behind a pornography syndicate targeting young women.

This follows after four girls were lured with job offers before being forcefully recruited into a porn ring.

According to an affidavit by the shanzu court, the girls were on Wednesday, June 15^th promised sales and marketing jobs.

The promise of jobs from the recruiters excited the girls from Murang’a who saw an opportunity to rescue their families from the shackles of poverty.

The unnamed woman, paid and arranged for the transport of the four girls. Upon arrival the girls were locked in an apartment in Mtwapa where they were to be exploited through a live streaming website.

According to preliminary information, the girls, once in the apartment were each given a desktop mounted with a web camera and asked to live stream their nudity.

The acts they were to perform were scripted and were meant to attract and excite customers.

The girls however according to State Counsel Ogenga Bosibori managed to escape and reported the incident to Makupa Police Station.

It is however reported that one of the victims, sometime after the escape attempted to commit suicide due to the trauma caused by the events.

According to police, she was found in a rented room attempting to take rat poison due to the stigma and trauma she went through in the hands of the human sex traffickers.

Two suspects behind this heinous crime were arraigned in court before Court Magistrate David Odhiambo.

Emily Wanjiru and Charles Wambua were charged with two counts; trafficking in person and conspiring to commit a crime. They both denied the charges.

They were each fined sh.500,000 bond with a surety of the same amount. The case will be heard on 1^st July 2022.
